Rhenus invests in Bolesławiec

More than 200 jobs will be created at Rhenus’s facility in Bolesławiec. The German company’s Logistics Center will cost around PLN 82 million. It has already been the tenth investor in the Bolesławiec subzone of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone.

The Rhenus group provides complex logistical services on a global scale. Its annual turnover is $4.6 billion. The group has 500 locations all over the world and employs 26,000 people. The company has been present in Poland for 23 years, where it has eight warehousing sites and thirteen distribution centers. It deals with up to 50,000 orders a day.
The corner stone has been laid to the company’s new facility in Bolesławiec. The ceremony was attended by the owners of the company, directors of the Wałbrzych zone and self-government authorities.

“We perceive this part of Poland as an area with a huge potential. What convinced us to invest here was the well-developed infrastructure and business-friendly atmosphere created by the authorities of the municipality, county and the Wałbrzych zone,” said Marcin Bartosz, Board Member and General Director of Rhenus Logistics.

The investment in Bolesławiec is divided into several stages. The first one assumes the construction of a warehousing hall with a surface area of almost 40,000 m2. Later, another 17,000 m2 will be added. Eventually, the facility will have up to 100,000 m2 of warehousing area. It will be Rhenus’s largest investment in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. The first stage is scheduled for completion in October this year. The construction of the entire investment project is going to finish by the end of 2019.

In the permit application that was submitted to the Wałbrzych zone, the company declared a readiness to generate at least 200 jobs and incur capital expenditure in the amount of almost PLN 82 million.

The area covered by the Wałbrzych zone in Bolesławiec is particularly attractive to investors. The site is situated just 50 km from the German border, in close proximity to the A4 interchange. There are currently nine firms operating in the Bolesławiec subzone of the WSEZ. They have invested almost PLN 235 million and employ about 600 people. Around 25 ha of land offering tax exemptions is still available to investors.
